NORTH AMERICA TRAVEL SERVICE

New England | Massachusetts | Boston

Boston is America’s ‘’walking city’’ and that, combined with the fact that it has an excellent public transport system means it’s easy to get around so you don’t need to hire a car whilst you’re staying here.

It’s a modern, vibrant city which is rich in culture and history so you’ll need around three days to see just about everything there is to see. Enjoy walking the famous Freedom Trail, which is 2.5 miles in length, with 12 of its 16 sites located within a mile of one another. Another good walking route is the Black Heritage Trail, although there are a few hills to climb in the Beacon Hill area. The subway system in the city is clean and easy to use and a great way to travel around to get to places like Harvard University, Fenway Park, Sam Adams Brewery and the John F Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum. Other popular ways of getting around Boston include water taxi, pedicab, trolley tour and bicycle, the latter of which are available to rent using the Boston New Balance Hubway bike share service between March and November.

The city of Boston is served by Logan International Airport which, unlike many airports, is very close to downtown Boston so the journey to your hotel, once you’ve landed is just a short ride away…and it’s available for FREE! The Silver Line coach service picks-up and drops off at all terminals in Logan and takes just 15 minutes to get to Boston’s South Station which is a major transportation hub in the city giving you access to the subway and train services beyond Boston.

We all love to shop, and in Massachusetts there’s no tax on clothing purchase of $150 and under. If you spend over that amount, you only pay tax on the difference so a $200 purchase would mean you only pay tax on the $50 difference.

In this beautiful city there are many things to see and do that cost nothing at all. Here’s a few:

  • Walk along Commonwealth Avenue Mall and see some of the most magnificent homes in the city.
  • Find a bench in the city to sit on in Boston Common, just like in the movie Good Will Hunting.
  • Run, bike, stroll or sit along the Charles River Esplanade.
  • Sign up for a free tour of Faneuil Hall, or a 60 minute ranger led walking tour of the Freedom Trail or Black Heritage Trail by visiting the National Park Service Visitor Information Centre at Faneuil Hall.
  • Climb the steps of the Bunker Hill Monument.
  • Visit the USS Constitution in Charlestown Navy Yard.
  • Take a free public tour of the Boston Public Library, one of the most impressive buildings in the city.
