Florida | Fort Lauderdale

Picture clear blue skies, never-ending golden sands, swaying green palm trees and lapping turquoise waters. Imagine a choice of outdoor cafes, beachside bars, fun family restaurants and fine dining options. Consider filling your days shopping at the discount malls, browsing upscale boutiques, scuba diving the reefs or improving your golfing skills. Whether visiting for a relaxing short break, a week in the sunshine or a high-energy vacation, Greater Fort Lauderdale specialises in warm sunny days overflowing with enjoyment.

Sitting in ‘subtropical’ southeast Florida, just a few miles north of Miami, its’ coastal location plays an important part in daily life, including its significance as an international cruise port. Often described as the yachting capital of the world, Fort Lauderdale’s canals, waterways and laid-back European atmosphere, really do make it the ‘Venice of America’.

If you can tear yourself away from the sun-kissed sands, there’s a plethora of things to keep you entertained. Just a short stroll from the beach is the Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment District, a brick lined promenade, home to Museum of Discovery & Science, Florida Grand Opera, Stranahan House and the Museum of Art. Why not take a waterway tour of the mansions and mega yachts of the rich and famous or an airboat tour across the Florida Everglades? Scuba dive and explore the colourful reefs and shipwrecks sitting off the coastal shores or play a round of golf at one of the 60 golf courses in the area?.

Chic Las Olas Boulevard draws crowds from miles, to wander the fabulous boutiques and meander in the superb range of art galleries. Shopaholics shouldn’t miss the USA’s largest outlet shopping mall Sawgrass Mills, where they can shop ‘til they drop!.
