DAY 1 ARRIVE PHILADELPHIA

Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Philadelphia. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel, the Four Seasons Philadelphia, Logan Square. This evening meet up with your fellow Tauck travellers for a welcome reception and dinner.

DAY 2 PHILADELPHIA

Steeped in history, Philadelphia combines the old with the new. Enjoy a day exploring the many attractions available as well as soaking up the atmosphere and character of this colourful city. Visit Liberty Bell, Reading Terminal Market, Friendship Gate and the fabulous Museum of Art which sits at the top of the steps made famous in the ‘Rocky’ movies.

DAY 3 AMISH COUNTRY & GETTYSBURG

After breakfast enjoy the journey as you travel through Pennsylvania farmland to Lancaster County.  A sightseeing tour with a local guide gives you an insight into the unique cultural heritage of the Amish, the inhabitants of Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Enjoy a special country lunch before you travel on to historic Gettysburg where a National Park guide will help you explore the Gettysburg National Military Park, site of one of the Civil War's most significant battles. This evening enjoy a talk from a local guide who recounts the experience of a civillian during the 1863 fighting.

DAY 4 MASON DIXON LINE

Travel south crossing the Mason/Dixon line to Virginia's National Museum of the Marine Corps and discover interactive exhibits chronicling more than 200 years of history. Continuing on to Colonial Williamsburg and discover Virginia's colonial capital. Dinner tonight is in an authentic colonial tavern.

DAY 5 WILLIAMSBURG

Enjoy a full day exploring Colonial Williamsburg, restored to its 1770 grandeur. Meet historic interpreters in colonial dress who represent actual citizens from 18th century Williamsburg; and experience an in-depth look at America's early days first-hand! Step back in time in this living history museum and see the Capitol Building, still flying the British flag; Raleigh Tavern, the House of Burgesses; the Governor's Palace; Bruton Parish Church; and many other historic colonial homes and shops.

DAY 6 JAMESTOWN & WASHINGTON DC 

Depart Williamsburg for visit to Jamestown, founded as the first permanent English settlement in the 'New World'. Enjoy a detailed and informative talk of the influences of the Powhatan, English and African cultures. On a walking tour you will see exhibits on America's early heritage. This evening arrive in the nation's capital, Washington DC, and enjoy an evening tour of this illuminated magnificent city.

DAY 7 MOUNT VERNON

Today you travel to Mount Vernon where you'll learn more about George Washington's beloved Mount Vernon estate. Perched overlooking the Potomac River, tour the mansion and beautiful landscaped grounds and explore the new interactive museum. Return to Washington DC, where Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam and Korean War Memorials can be seen as well as many other great Washington attractions, on a sightseeing tour.

Time for some last minute sightseeing and shopping before you transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK
