DAY 1 ARRIVE ANCHORAGE

Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Anchorage. Upon arrival, transfer on your own to your hotel for the evening.

DAY 2 GLENNALLEN

Driving Distance: 189Mi/304Km
Collect your rental car and head along the Scenic Glenn Highway to Glennallen. Highlights of today’s journey include the Alaska Native Heritage Centre, Independence Mine and Matanuska Glacier.

DAY 3 McCARTHY

Driving Distance: 65Mi/104Km
Today drive part of the Richardson and Edgerton Highways, enjoying views of the Wrangell Mountains as you go. Leave your car at Chitina and enjoy a bush plane journey the remainder of the way. Beyond Chitina is Copper River Bridge – now the adventure on unpaved McCarthy Road begins!

DAY 4 McCARTHY

Enjoy a full day in this fascinating backcountry area. Optional activities would be guided alpine and glacier hikes, river rafting and flight seeing tours.

DAY 5 VALDEZ

Driving Distance: 116Mi/186Km
Today enjoy a 30 minute bush plane flight back to Chitina where you collect your car and get back on the road. Stop at Worthington Glacier and view scenic canyons and waterfalls before reaching Valdez.

DAY 6 VALDEZ

Valdez is the end terminus of the Alyeska Pipeline as well as the perfect gateway to explore Prince William Sound and its glaciers. You may decide to take a cruise to Columbia Glacier.

DAY 7 GLENNALLEN

Driving Distance: 119Mi/190Km
Today you will again travel the Richardson Highway north for a second stay in Glennallen. En route enjoy great views of Worthington Glacier and Keystone Canyon.

DAY 8 FAIRBANKS

Driving Distance: 247Mi/395Km
It’s a long drive north today, but the scenery makes the journey worthwhile. Just before reaching Fairbanks you will pass North Pole – home of Santa Claus!

DAY 9 DENALI NATIONAL PARK

Driving Distance: 125Mi/200Km
Accompanied by incredible forest and mountain landscapes, travel south towards Denali, through the towns of Healy, Nenana and Ester, an old mining camp.

DAY 10 DENALI NATIONAL PARK

Denali is home to North America’s tallest mountain, Mt McKinley, as well as many different wild animals. Since access to the park is limited we have included a 7 hour bus tour of the park.

DAY 11 KNIK GLACIER/WASILLA

Driving Distance: 230Mi/368Km
Keep your cameras ready as you venture south through the incredibly scenic Alaska Range. You will overnight at either Knik Glacier or Wasilla, home of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Races.

DAY 12 SEWARD

Driving Distance: 190Mi/304Km
Maybe try and view a dog sled demonstration this morning before continuing south towards Seward on the southern Alaskan coast. Your journey takes you along Turnagain Arm, one of the most scenic highway sections in Alaska.

DAY 13 SEWARD

Seward is the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, a very scenic marine park which is home to many marine animals including Orca and Humpback Whales. Try and take some time for a boat cruise.

DAY 14 ANCHORAGE

Driving Distance: 127Mi/203Km
A short drive today along the Seward Highways brings you back to Anchorage. Enjoy some last minute souvenir shopping and relaxation in the city.

Return your car rental and check in for your flight to the UK.
