Florence, Oregon Coast
Located on the central Oregon coast along Highway 101, Florence is a scenic and charming old mill town. Old Town boasts a myriad of quaint shops and restaurants, and there is a marina tucked onto the waterfront inhabited by a chorus of sea lions.
Whilst in Florence, why not visit the Sea Lion Caves? The world’s largest sea cave is located 11 miles north of Florence and offers intimate views of Sea Lions in their natural habitat. If feels a privilege to descend the 200 feet into the home of the wild stellar sea lion.
If time allows, also make a stop at Wildcat Bridge, located on a small winding road a short distance from Highway 126. From the bridge site where Wildcat Creek flows into the Siuslaw River, Stagecoach Road hugs the hillside until it drops into the narrow plain at Swisshome. Stagecoach Road was the original road to the coast but was bypassed after the Linslaw Tunnel and Mapleton Bridge was built in the 1930s.
