Naples, Marco Island & The Everglades

Marco Island is located a short ride from the Florida Everglades and close to Naples, Marco Island is the largest and only developed land in Florida’s Ten Thousand Islands. Naples is perched on the Gulf of Mexico in southwest Florida, Naples is well known for its high-end shopping, world-class culture and sophisticated dining. But it’s also an affordable family destination that appeals to nature lovers and beach aficionados.

This Gulf Coast retreat offers luxury resorts, beautiful beaches and unspoiled parks. The tropical climate is a considerable attraction to the area, with the water being the next major attraction. Collier Seminole State Park, just a few miles from the island, has canoeing, fishing, boating, picnic grounds, and a mile-long nature walk. Narrated boat tours of the park run on a daily basis. Briggs Nature Center features a half-mile boardwalk where visitors can observe wildlife in its natural habitat. Other activities to enjoy include narrated boat trips, shelling excursions, canoe trips and self-guided canoe trips.

Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park

Include a visit to Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park, one of Florida’s most spectacular natural landscapes. Experience what the park has to offer by hiking one of the numerous trails, taking a ranger-guided swampwalk or canoe or kayak tour, strolling the Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk or enjoying a leisurely trip down the 11-mile stretch of Jane’s Scenic Drive.

Fakahatchee Strand is the major drainage slough of southwestern Big Cypress Swamp. The forests of bald cypresses are as impressive as any in the state. It also contains the largest stand of native royal palms and the largest concentration and variety of epiphytic orchids in North America.

Things to do from Naples

Sun-N-Fun Water Park
Sun-N-Fun is a 6.1-acre water park located within North Collier Regional Park. Sun-N-Fun Lagoon’s interactive water features include water dumping buckets, water pistols, four pools including a family pool, Tadpole pool for Children 6 and under, and Turtle Cove for kids 5 to 12. In addition there is a lap/diving pool and Sunny’s River, a lazy river attraction. The main attraction of course is the water tower which takes those 48″ and taller 38 feet in the air to come back down on one of five fantastic water slides. The 212-acre park also features nature trails, a gym and fitness centre.

Naples Zoo
Much more than a walk-thru zoo, this historic tropical garden with mature botanicals and nationally accredited zoo features a full day of wildlife experiences to delight guests with the natural world to inspire the conservation of our planet’s remaining wild areas and their wondrous inhabitants. New additions include a giant anteater and other wonders of South America along with cheetahs and the Giraffe Feeding Experience where you can hand-feed the world’s tallest animal!

Naples Bay Cruise

Enjoy Naples Bay, see the multi-million-dollar homes of Port Royal and cruise out into the Gulf of Mexico aboard Naples’ most elegant yacht the Naples Princess. A 105-foot, air-conditioned, triple level boat that is Coast Guard certified for 149 passengers. The Naples Princess offers sightseeing, lunch, sunset hors d’oeuvres and sunset dinner cruises.

Manatee tours

Take an eco-boat tour into a remote Manatee Hideout. Children help the captain steer the boat, while manatees, birds and alligators thrive in their natural habitat.
