Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat located on the Trans-Canada Highway in the scenic South Saskatchewan River Valley is 183 miles southeast of Calgary.

Medicine Hat is said to be the sunniest city in Canada, with small-town heart and big character. The city is rich in local history and unique attractions, from the 20-story high Saamis Tepee, the Medicine Hat Clay Industries National Historic District, the gaslight-themed downtown with over 200 shops and services, to the state-of-the-art Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre.

You’ll find over 100 parks and 90 kilometres of walking trails throughout the city, as well as seven golf courses, southeast Alberta’s largest shopping mall and casino. In summer, festivals and urban parks fill the streets, offering endless entertainment.

World-famous tourist attractions, such as Dinosaur Provincial Park, Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park & the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology are just a short drive away. The Red Rock Coulee Natural Area is an experience you won’t want to miss, with bizarre sandstone formations and pillars that look like they belong on the set of a space film.

Outdoor adventures continue on the many hiking and biking trails in the area, including parts of the Trans Canada Trail and the Rodeo Loop which meander through glorious forest scenery. Finish your activity filled days with food from around the globe at one of the many coffee houses, sushi bars or fine dining restaurants in town.
