Missoula, Darby, Philipsburg & Greenough

Nestled in the Northern Rockies of Montana, surrounded by seven wilderness areas and at the confluence of three rivers, Missoula is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream.

You can kayak, raft or tube through downtown or take a relaxing hike in 60,000 acres of wilderness minutes from your hotel. Missoula is known for its blue-ribbon trout fishing (made famous by A River Runs Through It) and spectacular natural beauty. The outdoor recreational opportunities are limitless.

Darby

Located in the spectacular Bitterroot mountain range of the western Montana Rockies, Darby is a picturesque and charming town. Darby and the Bitterroot Valley are full of wildlife and offer endless recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts.

There are over 1600 miles of hiking and biking trails in the Bitterroot National Forest. Boating and rafting on Lake Como, the Painted Rocks Lake State Park, and the Bitterroot River off great areas for fast or slower paced water fun. Some of the best trout fishing can be found in Darby in the Bitterroot River. In the winter try cross country or down hill skiing.

Philipsburg

Philipsburg, a charming 19th-century mining town that still proves to be a gem like one of the many Montana sapphires originating in the area is located in the heart of the spectacular Flint Creek Valley between Anaconda and Drummond.  On your way to or from Yellowstone National Park, Philipsburg is well worth a stopover.

Silver mining originally brought this town to life back in the late 1860s and while sapphire mining is still the main attraction (you can mine your own valuable Montana sapphires while visiting Philipsburg or visit a local jeweler).

In the summer there is a variety of outdoor activities other than sapphire mining, including boating, fishing, hiking, and biking. In winter head to the nearby slopes for skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, ice-fishing, ice climbing, and kiteboarding.
