Sacramento

Sacramento, the capital and one of the most historic cities of California boasts an impressive array of landmarks and attractions to suit all the family. Cool without the pretense – that’s Downtown and Midtown Sacramento where the city’s main theaters, art galleries, cultural venues, plus boutique shops and entertainment venues live. Old Sacramento is a 28-acre historic riverfront district with more than 125 boutique shops, restaurants and attractions. The State Capitol and the Capitol Park is alive with California’s colorful historic achievements. Sutter’s Fort is the last remaining structure from the days before the Gold Rush. Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park is the original site where gold was discovered and can still be found.

The region is home to one of California’s oldest wine-producing areas. Over 200 wineries in the region and most offer free tastings and intimate access to the wine making process and the winemakers. The American River Parkway is a biking/walking trail surrounded by natural, protected habitats, scenic bridges, acres of parks, fishing spots, kayaking and tubing areas. White water rapids of every class are just minutes from Sacramento. Famous Highway 49 lies only 45 minutes outside of Sacramento where picturesque scenic Gold Rush-era towns and cities can be found. Sacramento’s central location puts you within one to a few hours drive to several renowned attractions from the ski and recreation areas of Lake Tahoe, the granite domes of Yosemite, and the golden gates of San Francisco.
