Sandpoint (Coeur D’Alene Region)

The Selkirk, Cabinet and Bitterroot mountain chains are all within a 30-minute drive from anywhere in the greater Sandpoint area, including Ponderay, Clark Fork and Hope. Five riding areas spread between three mountain ranges, 275 miles of groomed trails, a cozy warming hut and available snowmobile guided tour outfitters combine to make the greater Sandpoint region a “must do” for your next snowmobile outing.

Sandpoint WaterLife Discovery Center is a habitat education and interpretive area on the shores of the Pend Oreille River. It a self guided educational center that combines a fish hatchery, nature trails, overlook bridges, wildlife watching areas, interpretive signs, and underwater viewing opportunities along a stream and a pond.

The Sandpoint Farmers’ Market is held twice a week near the shores of beautiful Lake Pend Oreille. Pick up locally grown fresh produce, baked goods and handcrafted arts and crafts — and remember, no two markets are ever the same.

Sandpoint also holds a great location close to Coeur D’Alene, so it is ideal for outdoor adventurers.

Coeur d'Alene Lake Parkway

Walkers, hikers, and cyclists of all ages love Coeur d’Alene Lake Parkway State Park. Spend the day on foot, on a bike or on the half-mile long beach. The paved parkway lies along the north shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene and has 5.7 miles of non-motorized fun. The parkway is part of the nationally famous North Idaho Centennial Trail, a multi-use recreational trail system that meanders for 24 miles from the Idaho/Washington state line. Along the parkway is Higgens Point where there is a boat launch facility and group picnic area overlooking the lake. Class 1 and 2 E-Bikes are allowed on the parkway.

The parkway also includes an exercise course, roadside picnic tables, restroom facilities, and benches for those who wish to stop and just enjoy views of the lake and the soaring Veterans Memorial Bridge. During the winter, spectators watch as Bald Eagles visit the park during the southern migration.
