Take a step back into the Old West. Located on the North Cascades Scenic Byway in Washington’s magnificent Methow Valley, Winthrop is an old west town with wood boardwalks and western charm.

Take an old-time portrait, watch experienced artists at work in a glass blowing studio, or browse the galleries for nature-inspired art, Western memorabilia, unique home decor, and custom jewelry. Winthrop and the surrounding area boasts epicurean experiences from wine cellars and four-star dining rooms to mouth-watering bakeries.

Winthrop is home to the nation’s largest cross-country skiing location, with over 120 miles of groomed trails. In addition to Nordic skiing, Winthrop is home to an award-winning outdoor ice rink, an alpine ski area, backcountry skiing, fat biking, snowshoeing, sledding, and world-renowned snowmobiling.

Popular activities in the summer months include rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, river rafting, horse-back riding, hunting, fishing and golfing. Four miles NW of Winthrop, Pearrygin Lake is one of the most popular state parks in the state. There are great fishing, swimming and hiking opportunities for the whole family.
