Mount St Helens

Mount St. Helens is an active stratovolcano located in Skamania County, Washington, in the Pacific Northwest. You will learn about the 1980 eruption which destroyed the almost perfectly symmetrical cone which stood roughly 9,600 feet (3,000 meters) above sea level. The eruption left a horseshoe-shaped crater and a barren wasteland, which although devastating, proves natures ability to endure and rejuvenate. Next, you will venture (with head torches) into the lava tube at the Ape Caves. While you will visit a micro-Brewery in the evening.

Day 3

Hood River

Today you will explore two of the greatest attractions of the Pacific Northwest – the Columbia Gorge and Mt. Hood! Learn the ins and outs of the gorge while spotting for wildlife and hearing tales of historic grandeur, before visiting the historic Timberline Lodge at 6,000 feet on Mt. Hood. You’ll visit Multnomah Falls, the tallest waterfall in Oregon and hike to two or three other secluded falls within the region. Why not hit the vineyards surrounding the Hood River in the evening?

Day 4, 5, 6

Say goodbye to the lush green landscapes of the Gorge as you travel south and over the Cascades to central Oregon for a three-night stay in Bend. Day 4 – Stretch your legs with a short nature hike at Smith Rock State Park while watching rock climbers scramble up the geological wonder. Then enjoy an afternoon exploring downtown Bend. If you’re interested in discovering the Cascade Lakes by paddle, join a starlight canoeing tour this evening with a local beer and dessert pairing to end on. Experiencing the lakes at night provides you with a unique perspective. Learn about the fascinating wildlife who come out at night and enjoy the peacefulness of water reflecting the night’s stars. Day 5 – This morning you will head to Mt. Bachelor, a world-class ski resort in winter, to ride the alpine chair for an unbelievable vantage of the surrounding mountains. While you descend the mountain, enjoy scenic waysides and nature trails along the Cascade Lakes byway. After lunch get ready to get your feet wet on an afternoon float on the Deschutes River. Day 6 – This morning is free to explore the area. There is plenty of coffee and culture to occupy your time. Or if you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous, how about exploring on two wheels? Cycling enthusiasts worldwide flock to bend to experience the impressive bike routes on offer. The city’s idyllic location under the Three Sisters peaks and Mount Batchelor on the eastern edge of the cascades, means you’re never far from trails into nature. In the afternoon you’ll visit the High Desert Museum to learn about the native cultures and wildlife that live in this beautiful landscape.

Day 7, 8

Crater Lake and the Ashland Area

As the sun rises over the rolling desert valley, you make your way to the rim of Crater Lake, Oregon’s amazing National Park. Explore the historic lodge, snap ample photos of the blue lake and learn about the unique geological history that formed this iconic natural wonder.  Spend some time exploring the beautiful Ashland area. We recommend a day of hiking or go thrill seeking on a whitewater rafting excursion while in the Ashland Area. Why not sample some local wine at one of the nearby vineyards while your here too.

Newport has been a playground for visitors since the late 1800s – nestled between the Coastal Mountains, Pacific Ocean, and Yaquina Bay, the natural beauty of the area draws those seeking a unique and exciting coastal experience.  On arrival, you will visit Yaquina Head Lighthouse, the tallest on the Oregon Coast – soaring 93 feet in the air.  If you would like a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding area, be prepared to walk circles up a number of lighthouse stairs!

From sandy dunes to quaint riverfronts, wander around old town Florence, before watching the sunset from Nye Beach in Newport’s oceanfront district.
