Pocono Mountains Region

You’ll notice a dramatic change in scenery in this region as you cross under the Lehigh Tunnel and into the Pocono Mountains. In this endless outdoor playground, you’ll find steep mountains with cloud-covered peaks great for hiking, biking, fishing and canoeing.

Renowned for its natural scenic beauty, enveloping seven state parks and over 150 lakes and rivers, the Pocono Mountain region is one of year-round splendour.  An amazing assortment of outdoor attractions and recreation awaits visitors, from skiing and snow tubing in the winter to hiking, horse riding, fishing and boating in the warmer months.

This region is also home to some of Pennsylvania’s most popular heritage resort hotels where you can practice your tennis serve and enjoy championship golf in spectacular surroundings.

Hawley

Hawley is tiny town tucked away in the tip of the Pocono Mountains, northeast Pennsylvania and only moments from the Lake Wallenpaupack. This is Pennsylvania’s third-largest artificial lake, making it an ideal destination for boaters, anglers, swimmers, and water-skiers.

Stroll down Mainstreet with its quirky old fashioned shops and galleries, or spend the day at Lake Wallenpaupack, kayaking, boating, fishing, parasailing or biking through the hundreds of acres of forest lands and walking trails.

This Pocono Mountains town owes its beginnings to coal: when the Delaware and Hudson Canal opened in 1828, the coal began moving through Hawley on its way to New York, and the town grew. Visitors today can enjoy the Victorian architecture, antiquing, and cultural events.

Skytop

With breathtaking vistas, ample outdoor activities and legendary accommodations, Skytop and its surrounding towns of Mountainhome, Canadensis and Cresco are ideal for a mountain escape.

Skytop is surrounded by secluded lakes, lush forests and sweeping mountain views: plenty of backdrops for a day in the fresh air. Take to the treetops with ropes courses and ziplines at the Adventure Center at Skytop Lodge , canter over the fields and through the woods with Mountain Creek Riding Stable  or spend a day fishing at Paradise Trout Preserve. Nearby Promised Land State Park is a great spot to enjoy hiking, biking, boating and more.

Discover unique gifts and handmade items at charming local shops like Poe and Raven Gallery and Stagbrook Gifts. Discover sweet tastes at Callie’s Candy Kitchen and sweet smells at Paradise Lavender Farm.

If you’re staying in Skytop, great golf is just outside your door. Get the guys or gals together and hit the links to enjoy some of the region’s best backdrops at the Skytop Lodge Golf Course and the Buck Hill Golf Course.

Delaware Water Gap

Hiking, kayaking, and rafting adventures, a vibrant jazz scene, historic inns, and family-friendly camping await at the Gateway to the Poconos. Many visitors pass through the village of Delaware Water Gap on their way into the Pocono Mountains, but those in the know stop and stay awhile to enjoy the many things to do and places to stay in the Gap. This small town community has been making visitors feel at home for generations.

Seekers of natural beauty and outdoor adventure have flocked to Delaware Water Gap for over 200 years: Antoine Dutot founded the town and built the first inn in 1793. Famous figures including Teddy Roosevelt and Fred Astaire joined summer guests who arrived by train and stayed for the season, soaking in the idyllic and inspiring scenery.

From musical to natural harmony, the Appalachian Mountains rising dramatically over the Delaware River still invite visitors to savor and explore. The south gate of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area , the borough of Delaware Water Gap is flanked by Mount Tammany and Mount Minsi and offers many miles of trails to trek. After a day of exploring Delaware Water Gap hiking and biking trails or canoeing, kayaking, and rafting on the river, the borough’s restaurants are the perfect spots to recharge.
