Ghost Tour From Indianapolis

  • 1 Hour
  • All year round

As the engines wind down, the sounds of centuries of tragedy and misfortune pierce the air, giving way to the darkness of the city’s deadly past. Discover why “Naptown” is nothing to sleep on, as Indy’s tortured souls have yet to rest.

Today, Indianapolis is a thriving sports and culture-fueled metropolis, attracting thousands of visitors every year. But its origin story is anything but inviting. Migratory Native American tribes once occupied the land before becoming involuntarily embroiled in a two-hundred-year war between the French, British, and U.S., all fighting for the territory. The U.S. would win, and the nightmare would begin.

Indiana’s first governor, William Harrison, was responsible for unethically removing the remaining Native Americans from the newly formed territory. His attacks on the tribe would lead to a curse being placed upon him by a powerful spiritual leader nicknamed “The Prophet.”

In 1840, Harrison would win the presidency only to die one month later of pneumonia, making him the first to die in office. The next five presidents to win on a year ending in 0 would meet horrific untimely ends, including Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley, Warren G. Harding, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the popular John F. Kennedy.

Visit the Benjamin Harrison Memorial to hear the unnerving details of a curse that won’t quit. Even the cemetery where President Harrison now resides did not go unscathed, as it’s one of the most haunted in the state. Over 700 children are buried here; their eerie phantom laughs are heard late at night. Uniformed soldiers have also been seen wandering the graveyard, giving goosebumps to anyone who’s seen them.
