Greenwich Village Food Tour

  • 3 Hours
  • All year round

Little Italy may have the name recognition, but many of Manhattan’s Italian immigrants have actually called Greenwich Village home over the years. Discover the Italian history and culture that has shaped this storied area while tasting some of the best and most authentic Italian food New York City has to offer.

Your adventure begins at one of Greenwich Village’s most recognizable landmarks. As you begin to learn the story of this area’s rich Italian heritage, you’ll enjoy your first taste of the tour: fried arancini from a family-run shop in the neighborhood. From there, you’ll head to the first stop: a handmade pasta shop that’s been run by the same family for over a century, to try some of their delicious cheese ravioli and get a look at the traditional manual pasta-cutting machine they’ve been using since 1906! The second tasting stop is a family-run café famous for importing high-quality Italian coffee, so an espresso tasting here is the perfect energy boost! We can’t talk about Italian food in Manhattan without mentioning pizza—and sure enough, that’s what you’re eating next! Enjoy a famous New York-style slice from one of the Village’s most iconic pizza joints. The next stop, opened in the 1990s, is pretty new by Greenwich Village standards—but in its relatively short lifespan, it’s mastered the art of the meatball. That’s what you’re trying here, complete with an olive oil tasting led by your expert guide. Last but not least, two Italian desserts. First are some freshly made Italian pastries, and then Italy’s best-known sweet treat: gelato.  This itinerary is subject to change.
