Moab & Arches National Park

235mi / 378km

Today you depart Salt Lake City and head south to Moab. Just before arrival in Moab we suggest a stop at Dead Horse Point State Park, which offers one of the most spectacular views in Utah. 2,000 feet above the Colorado River, views of red rock pinnacles, buttes and spires appear endless. Known as Utah’s ‘Adventure Capital’, Moab has become a world-renowned destination because of its surreal red rock landscapes, unique downtown and outdoor recreation opportunities. Join a jet boat trip or daily float on the Colorado River or explore red rock canyons and formations by foot, bike, jeep or horse. The recreational opportunities are endless. Moab is also known as the gateway to Arches National Park. Delicate natural sandstone arches and impossibly balanced rocks are among the amazing geological features at Arches, home to the world’s largest concentration of naturally formed rock arches, including one of Utah’s most iconic images, Delicate Arch.

Monument Valley

146mi / 235km

This morning take a small detour to visit Canyonlands National Park. Canyonlands preserves a colourful landscape eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries. The rivers divide the park into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze and the rivers themselves. From there depart for the “Trail of the Ancients” with stops at Newspaper Rock and the Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum, home to the largest collection of Ancestral Puebloan pottery in the Four Corners Region. If you wish to continue your Navajo experience, enjoy a jeep tour of Monument Valley; a vast open desert region and the setting for more Western movies than any other site in the world.

Lake Powell

129mi / 208km

Today, depart Monument Valley for Lake Powell. Spend the night at the Lake Powell Resort overlooking the man-made lake, which was created when the Glenn Canyon Dam was built in 1966. Don’t miss taking the boat trip out to Rainbow Bridge, the tallest natural bridge in the world.

Day 7

Zion National Park

100mi / 161km

A shorter drive today as you leave behind Lake Powell and head to Zion National Park, where desert terrain and huge sculpted rock formations co-exist alongside waterfalls and blossoming gardens. When translated, Zion means the “promised land,” which is the perfect way to describe this peaceful yet dramatic landscape. Tour Zion Utah’s oldest and most visited outdoor attraction on a guided shuttle, by bike, or follow the trails on horseback.
