Kananaskis & Canmore

Kananaskis County

Kananaskis Country, located to the southwest of Calgary, borders Banff National Park. This area is famed as Alberta’s mountain playground with over 4’000 square kilometres of mountain parks and foothills to discover and explore. There aren’t many places in the world where you can experience adventure, throughout all four seasons, but Kananaskis Country is certainly one of them.

Cave tours take you through twisting tunnels into underground grottos and whitewater rafting in K-Country is the kind of thing you dream about for literally weeks afterward. When you’ve had enough of the endless fresh air and mountain scenery, there are many other attractions to explore, from amusement parks and science centres to dinosaurs adventures, zoos, nature and wildlife parks, guest ranches, gondolas and tramways. Enjoy fine dining with breath-taking views, an entertaining dinner show or choose from the wide selection of dining experiences and restaurants that Kananaskis has to offer.

Summer activities are endless, surrounded by breath-taking mountain scenery which is yours to experience. Discover fly fishing, golf courses, hiking trails, horseback riding, mountain biking, holistic adventures, spa and fitness, rafting, canoeing, western barbecues, just some of the activities you can enjoy in Kananaskis Country in the summer months.

Winter is a magical time of the year to explore the mountain parks. Enjoy cross-country skiing at the Canmore Nordic Centre, alpine skiing at Nakiska Ski Resort, dogsledding in the Spray Valley, snowshoeing tours and caving and close encounters with winter wildlife can be expected over the months of December to mid-April.

Canmore

Located one-hour West of Calgary and only 5 minutes from the Banff National Park, Canmore lies along the banks of the Bow River, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Nestled in the Canadian Rockies, Canmore is 50 miles from Calgary and is the perfect setting for both summer and winter vacation travel with spectacular scenery, fresh air, and an abundance of activities to choose from.

Summer travel activities and adventure around Canmore include fishing, golf, cycling, hiking and rock climbing, to name just a few. With the Canadian Rockies all around, you’ll find that the awe-inspiring landscape is perfect for pictures.
