Portland, Brunswick & Freeport

Portland

Explore the Arts District, Historic Old Port, fine dining, parks, and distinctive neighbourhoods.

With its heady mixture of artistic and outdoor adventures, this region is stylish and sophisticated yet remains genuine and unpretentious—a place where grey flannel and plaid flannel can coexist. And underlying the latest tech, fashion, and culinary scene is a deep sense of continuity.

Whether you want to explore by foot, bike, bus, or boat – you can do it all from Downtown Portland. Learn about Portland’s unique history, the working waterfront, or simply get out and commune with nature. From urban adventures to island trips – this is your one-stop shop for trips and tours.

Brunswick

Brunswick is the gateway of the Mid-Coast region of Maine, home to nationally recognized Bowdoin College and the Maine State Music Theater, as well as a nostalgic Maine Street,  lined with shops, galleries, restaurants, and antiques.

Nature lovers are drawn to Brunswick by the proximity to the ocean, islands, and mountains. Take a stroll along the Androscoggin Riverwalk and Bike Path overlooking the mighty Androscoggin River. Or discover a world of treasure at Cabot Mill Antiques—the largest multi-dealer antique mall in Maine. More than 140 dealers are located inside Fort Andross, a beautifully restored textile mill.

Freeport

Just 2 hours drive from Boston or a 20-minute ride from Portland, Maine, on the shores of Casco Bay, Freeport is a charming coastal village buzzing with activities, galleries, and shops….. Yes, Freetown is renowned for its outlet shopping and the home to L.L. Bean.

Experience world-class outlet and boutique shopping, savour the delicious Maine lobster, seafood, and farm fresh dining. Explore the great outdoors by sea or by land. Take a day trip to Eagle Island and see some of Maine’s most popular lighthouses located on Casco Bay and watch the seals at play. Bradbury Mountain State Park is a wonderful place to spend a day or afternoon exploring trails, and taking in the magnificent view from the summit.

The coast at Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park offers bird watching and ocean trails. You can also see the “Desert of Maine”—the desert was once a fertile farm, but overproduction caused the topsoil to give way to sand. The L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools provide affordable adventures all year round such as kayaking, canoeing, clay shooting, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
