Northeast Ontario

Northeastern Ontario is a large, diverse, and dynamic region. It spans from Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron, across the Greater Sudbury Area and North Bay on Lake Nipissing, and reaches all the way north to James Bay shoreline.

Manitoulin Island

Manitoulin Island is a very special place. Nestled in the heart of the Great Lakes, Manitoulin Island is the largest freshwater island in the world. Locally known in Ojibway as ‘Spirit Island’, it has four main rivers: the Kagawong, Manitou, Blue Jay Creek, and Mindemoya, which provide spawning grounds for trout and salmon.

The island is accessible year-round via the MS Chi-Cheemaun, a passenger ferry that operates daily from late May to early October.

Tobermory

Located at the top of the Bruce Peninsula, Tobermory is a lakeside town surrounded by crystal clear water and is home to Flowerpot Island along with two national parks. The Tobermory landscape offers visitors an unparalleled experience. The towering cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment provide a background to some of the most beautiful vistas in nature.

Killarney

In Ontario, the name Killarney is synonymous with striking natural beauty. North Bay

The city of North Bay is in the Northeastern part of Ontario on the shore of Lake Nipissing. It takes about 4 hours to drive from Toronto and around 3.5-4 hours from Ottawa to reach North Bay. Known as the ‘Gateway of the North’, North Bay sits between two magnificent lakes and enjoys easy access from the city to lush forests, rivers, a waterfall, and even a ski hill.

Timmins
